Many Cayman residents did the Miami half-marathon recently and two of them were none other than the Cayman Islands Intertrust Marathon organizers Rhonda Kelly and Laurie-Ann Holding. Together they run the sports events company Kelly Holding.

Not content just to organize the local event, the duo wants to get fitter themselves and also gain a better understanding of what runners need on race day.

Kelly finished the 13.1 mile run in 2 hours 50 minutes and Holding in 3:04.

“Participating in other races is a great way for us to get ideas and learn more for the Cayman Islands race,” Kelly said. “It also helps us to relate to those who participate in our races. We know how much dedication it takes to train for a long run.

“We really enjoyed the Miami event. It was well organized and although we didn’t break any speed records, we both improved on our previous half-marathon times, so personally it was really good.”

There were also many others from Cayman who took part in the race, and all were cheered on by Sharon Williams, who was course cheerleader for Kelly Holding. Williams inspired a lot of Cayman runners with her sign.
