In light of the COVID-19 global pandemic, we understand that people may be apprehensive about gathering in groups to run a race. As organisers we are committed to ensuring a safe event that adheres to any/all Cayman Islands Public Health regulations that may be in place on Sunday, 6 December. However, if you would like to Run Cayman on your own terms, we are pleased to offer a virtual marathon and half marathon option.
*Please remember that there are no water stops, medical or course support in a virtual race. This should be taken into consideration before registering for a virtual event.*
The registration fees are below:
|REGISTRATION FEES||Virtual Full and Half Marathon|
|September 1 to December 2||US$65 - CI$52|
Where can you complete your virtual full or half marathon? Wherever you are! The joy of competing in a virtual race is that you can start it right outside your front door. Please follow the traffic and pedestrian codes of your local Government and any local public health authority regulations that may be in place as it relates to exercising during COVID-19 to ensure you are keeping yourself and your community safe. For example, follow normal street lights and traffic regulations like any typical training run you would do.You can run, jog or walk from any location you choose, e.g. the road, on the treadmill, at the gym, or on a track. You run your own race, at your own pace, and time it yourself.
Participants may transfer from the virtual race to the live race up until Packet Pick Up Day on Saturday, 5 December. Please note that you will receive a new bib number with a timing chip if you switch at packet pickup. This means you will not be able to use your original personalised bib.
Participants may transfer from the live race to the virtual race up until midnight on 2 December. If you have already registered for the live race, and want to switch, please email us here.
Virtual race participants will receive a medal, race shirt or tank and a bib in the mail upon completion of their run (up to 4-6 weeks after the event). Any shipping and handling costs are included in the virtual race fees so no other payment is necessary after you've registered. Cayman residents who opt to do the virtual run can collect their bib and shirt/tank at Packet Pick Up (optional) and their medals the week after the race.
Virtual race participants must run their registered distance between Monday, 30 November and Monday, 7 December. They can run the entire distance all at once or break it up into segments as long as the entire distance is completed within the required timeframe.
Virtual race participants can use whatever app or system they want to track their distance and time.
We would love it if you post a photo or video and share your virtual race experience on your social media using the race hashtag #RunCayman. Make sure you tag us @CaymanMarathon on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter.
No awards will be given based on virtual results submitted.
You will be able to submit your results to our official race timer, SportStats. Virtual race participants will receive an activation link on Monday, 30 November which will link their virtual race with their free Sportstats accounts. To use your link you click on it to either login or create an account; click to accept the waiver at the bottom of the page and yes to confirm this is the account you want to use. This will take you to your personal dashboard. Once you have used the activation link you can come back and access your dashboard any time during the results submission window to submit your results at https://vr.sportstats.one/Member/Dashboard/. Virtual race participants can either submit their time manually OR by loading a GPX file OR by linking their Strava or Map My Run account directly. More information on how to do this can be found on Sportstats' virtual run FAQ page here. If you have any problems with your results submission don't hesitate to contact the Sportstats support team with any questions by clicking here.
Runners who have participated in the Cayman Islands Marathon for 3 consecutive years qualify to receive a special rate when registering for the event. This rate cannot be taken advantage of online after 31 August so registrants will have to come in to the Kelly Holding office to register. This offer applies to half and full marathoners ONLY.
Registrations for the virtual race are non-refundable and non-transferable with no exceptions. This means that you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate after we have received your entry, and you may not give or sell your BIB number to anyone else. In addition, you cannot transfer your registration from a half or full to a team relay or from a team relay to a full or half marathon. If you are unable to participate in the 2020 race, you can defer your registration until 2021 for a fee of US$20. Choose the DEFERRAL ONLY option on the registration page. Please note that you can only defer to 2021, not future years and the virtual race may not be an option in 2021
If you have to cancel your registration, you can do so by emailing info@CaymanIslandsMarathon.com.
