Our Charities
The Cayman Islands Marathon benefits two great causes in the Cayman Islands: the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps and the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. Read more about our great causes below. The Cayman Islands Cadet Corps is an initiative started by the Ministry of Education to educate and train youth in the Cayman Islands. The CICC consists of both male and female students between the ages of 12 and 17 years old.
The principle aims of the Cayman Islands Cadet Corps which is now operated through the Portfolio of Internal & External Affairs, in conjunction with the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service, is to teach discipline and mold character.
Self-respect, national pride, civic knowledge, punctuality, sense of duty and leadership, physical and mental endurance, responsibility, citizenship and camaderie are some of the values taught to the students by the CICC staff.
The cadets are a very integral part of the Cayman Islands Marathon event. They assist in the set up and clean up for the race and they each run 1km in a relay form. Their Commandant and other leaders also run alongside them. In addition the parents of the cadets make up the majority of the 135+ volunteers who make the race happen.

OTHER GREAT CHARITIES
Some of our runners have chosen to run for other charities that are near and dear to them. We hope you will support them in their efforts.
The mission of the Cayman Islands Crisis Centre is to provide safe, temporary, shelter and a supportive environment for abused women and their children. The Cayman Islands Crisis Centre (CICC) is a locally run charitable company that was established in early 2003. Our primary mandate is to provide a safe haven for abused women and their children. The CICC acknowledges that domestic abuse and sexual abuse is a violation of an individual's human rights, and is not just a problem that affects the persons directly involved but also their families and the community. Everyone deserves the right to live a life free of violence. We are dedicated to seeing an end to this horrific crime and through our services and programmes we hope to educate the community in order to prevent domestic abuse and sexual abuse Please support our cause and do your part to help women and children in need.
