We have compiled a list of questions that we have received over the past few years. Hopefully this will help answer questions you may have as well. See you at the finish line!
What are the cut-off times for the Marathon and Half Marathon?
Six (6) hours for the marathon and six (6) hours for the half marathon. The primary reason for the closure times are to allow for the roads to re-open. The respective agencies have been kind enough to allow partial road closure with this event.
Are iPods and other music players allowed in the race?
Yes, but please ensure they are at a volume where you can still hear road traffic.
Can a person walk the marathon and/or half marathon?
As long as you can complete the marathon or half marathon before course closure. However, if you are unable to complete the marathon within six (6) hours, we will pick you up. We encourage and welcome elites, competitive runners, recreational runners, joggers and walkers.
Do runners have to wear the shirts that is included in their registration?
No, you do not have to wear the shirt. However, it is a tech shirt so you may want to consider it.
Is the fee for a relay team a total or per team member fee?
The team captain pays the fee for the WHOLE team. Team members can then log on and register themselves.
How many people are on the relay team?
There are FOUR (4) people on each team.
How many miles does each relay team member run?
Each relay team member runs approximately 6.5 miles.
Can the relay teams be co-ed?
Yes, the teams can be co-ed.
Where and when do the shuttles run?
The shuttles run between the Official Hotel and the start/finish lines and to the turnaround point for relay team members. The shuttle to the Start/Finish line will begin at 4:00am from the farthest hotel. Shuttles back to the hotel will begin at 7:00am and continue every half hour. These shuttle services are COMPLIMENTARY.
If we cannot make it to the Packet Pickup, can we have someone pickup our packet for us? Can we pickup our packets on Sunday?
Packet pickup is only available on the Saturday before the race. There will be no packet pickup on Sunday. If someone is picking up your packet for you for any reason they must have: (1) a signed printout of your online entry confirmation giving them authorization to pickup your packet (2) photocopy of your ID. Each relay team member will receive a packet, shirt, BIB and will be required to stop by packet pickup to sign a waiver. The team captain will be responsible for chip pickup and instructions.
Are finisher medals, t-shirts, photos and certificates provided?
Finisher medals and certificates will be provided for marathon, half marathoners, and relay members who finish their respective races. Tech shirts are included in the race packet that runners collect at Packet Pick Up.
Kids Fun Run participants will receive cotton t-shirts.
Event Photos will be available for purchase online directly following the event.
What do I do with our clothes and other items that I would like to have at the finish line?
Limited parking will be available at each of the relay exchange points. Therefore, we recommend that you check your personal belongings at the Bag Check Desk, located at the Start/Finish Line. Items must be placed in the bag given to you at packet pickup and labeled with your name, race, and bib number. The event will not be responsible for lost items.
What happens if I decide not to run the event? Can I get a refund?
There are no refunds or transfers of registration.
Can I change from the marathon to the half-marathon or another race?
Yes, you are allowed to change races. You will be responsible for any additional costs associated with changing races.
Where are the best places for my friends and family to watch me run?
We would suggest the following viewing points along the course: Downtown Georgetown, Turnaround Point Near Prospect Road/Shamrock Road Intersection, Breezes by the Bay and the Walkers Road/South Sound Road Intersection.
Please note that you are NOT allowed to drive, skate or bike alongside them as they will be disqualified.
Is the course certified and a Boston Qualifier?
Yes, we are a Boston Qualifier. Our course is measured and certified by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Road Races), and on the Boston Marathon qualifying information page, it refers to the AIMS site for a list of qualifying international races, and we are listed on there. If if I am unable to make it to the start of the race at 5AM to start with all the other competitors, what will be recorded as my official start time?
If you are unable to make the official start time for any reason, you will be given the official gun start time for the purposes of results. Your gun and chip times will be provided for informational purposes.
